💻 This tool works best on a laptop or desktop — it can be a little tricky to read on a phone.
This tool invites you to explore the patterns of overexcitabilities, giftedness, and diagnosable differences that have run through your family across generations. It is a tool for self-exploration and reflection, not diagnosis—a way of seeing yourself, and maybe your children, in context, and understanding where the threads you carry may have come from. It is worth noting that overexcitabilities and giftedness are themselves ways of diverging from the majority neurotype—they too are part of the rich spectrum of human neurodivergence, not separate from it.
A note before you begin
This may be you just wondering for much of it, making your best guess. You will be working with fragments—stories, impressions, second-hand accounts, or simply what you sense or sensed about them. That is enough. Mark what feels true to you, leave blank what you do not know, and hold all of it lightly. You may be wrong. There will almost certainly be people and traits with no evidence remaining. Women, especially, in past generations may not have been free to demonstrate their giftedness. There may well be others you have no way of knowing about. This is a map, not a verdict.
What the tool can do
💾
Save and return. Use the Save data button to download your map as a file called my-ancestral-map.json — it saves to your Downloads folder. To return to your work in a future session, use Load data and select that file.
🖨️
Save as PDF. Print or save your completed map as a PDF to keep or share privately.
✦
Generate a report. Once you have filled in your map, you can ask the tool to generate a reflective narrative based on what you have marked. This uses AI and is offered as a prompt for reflection only — it is not a clinical assessment or a diagnosis. The report appears on screen only and is not saved anywhere; if you want to keep it, copy the text or save your map as a PDF.

The Generate report feature uses AI (Claude) to offer a reflective narrative based on what you have marked — it is not a clinical assessment
I created this tool because I believe that when we can see the patterns in our family line — the intensities, the different forms of giftedness, the traits and ways of being in the world that were always there but rarely named — something shifts for us. This is not a clinical record. It is a pattern map: a way of making visible what has quietly shaped your family for generations. Aspects of neurodivergence are marked as possible, present, or confirmed. Many of your entries are likely to be informed guesses — but you know your family members better than most other people.
Thank you for trying it out. I'd genuinely love to hear what you think — what landed, what felt confusing, what you'd love to see here. Your voice will shape where this goes.
Warmest wishes, Davina 💙
